NY Post: Niese not in line for Mets bullpen despite Cardinals whipping. "In his worst start of the season, Niese lasted five-plus innings and allowed eight earned runs on 11 hits with one walk. The lefty departed after throwing 92 pitches....The Cardinals battered the lefty early and then delivered the knockout punch in the sixth, when they scored six runs against Niese and Erik Goeddel...Murphy’s two-run homer in the fourth inning gave the Mets their scoring. Michael Cuddyer walked leading off the inning before Murphy lofted a shot just inside the right-field foul pole to pull the Mets within 4-2."

The Mets loss coupled with the Nationals 8-6 win over the Yankees, dropped the Mets into a First Place Tie.
