MLB Power Rankings

2. New York Mets (2.1)

Record: 27-15

Last Power Ranking: 2

Wish you were here: Sean Manaea

A shorthand for how well things have gone for the Mets early in the season is that Griffin Canning and Tylor Megill, the fill-ins for Manaea and Frankie Montas, have compiled a 2.72 ERA and a 10-6 team record in their starts. But when you’re gaming out the rest of 2025 for the Mets, a team with aspirations beyond just making the dance in October, Manaea is a critical figure.

He was New York’s best starter last October, the only one capable of going seven innings and owning a game. As good as the Mets’ rotation has been to this point, that kind of pitcher isn’t there right now. — Tim Britton

Manaea, when healthy will slot into the 6-man rotation perfectly. Pushing McGil or Canning to 6th SP/spot starter. McGil is starting to come back to his norm.

Manaea is so very important because he is a second lefty, with a totally different look than anyone else.

I would not force Montas back into the rotation. He was a huge mistake from the beginning.

Stank had a couple rough outings but he has righted the ship. He's an important piece moving forward

I LOVE all 5 current starters.

And Stanek was breathing fire last night.

We also had “Franco Diaz” last night….inducing beads of sweat on fans’ foreheads. When they pitch, WE need Rolaids.

Better Franco than Benitez...lol

Arman-DOH!

I still remember Murph’s “the Mets win the damn thing” shocking call on a Franco Houdini escape against Philly(?) once. My brother Steve ran into him once in a Shea restroom. What did Steve do? Franco said something flippant. Steve glared at him and told him he sucked. Two great lefties, naturally.

I just don't see having the 5 outing apple cart extended for all the other starters
