NY Post: Syndergaard mows down Brewers in exhilarating home debut. “Thor brought the hammer and the lightning fastball. The Mets’ bats threw in some thunder. And by the time their 5-1 win over Milwaukee was over, their recent skid seemed a little further in the rearview mirror…With Viking helmets and plastic replicas of Thor’s hammer Mjolnir among the crowd of 32,422, Syndergaard threw six sterling innings, allowing three hits, one run and striking out five. ‘It was a dream come true to be able to step on that mound,’ Syndergaard said. ‘It was really cool looking up in the stands seeing lots of people dressed up as Thor. It was pretty cool.’’’

The Nationals beat the Padres 10-5 to keep pace with the Mets and stay one half game behind the Mets.
