METS MINORS SUPER SLIM RECAP
All eyes were on Nolan McLean in his 2nd AAA outing, which was not as good as the first one.
He gave up 3 in the third, another in the 4th in a 5 inning outing in which he allowed 5 hits and 6 walks. Recently promoted Felipe de la Cruz gave up 3 runs.
Facing a 30-12 team is not a picnic. Meneses, though, homered for the second straight game.
Brooklyn won at home 4-3, and its fine hitting contingent was 11 for 35. Reimer launched # 7.
Estarling Mercado had 2 hits, upping his average to .339.
Brian Metoyer a scoreless 9th for the save.
Binghamton did the impossible and scored! In fact, a whopping 5 runs in a 5-3 win. Johnny Pintaro was great, 4.1 scoreless, no walks, 8 Ks. Shook threw 2 scoreless with 4 Ks for the W. D'Andre Smith homered, and Ronny Mo had a double, making him 4 for 27, but was picked off 3rd base. He played an error-free 3B.
St Lucie won 6-4. Our guys did a little better than their guys.
The FCL Mets won 5-4. In a typical early season rookie ball game, as the two teams combined for 9 runs and 6 errors, while the F-Mets had just 4 hits but racked up 11 walks.
TIME FOR THE BRONX BATTLE.
MAY THE METS MAN WIN.
ACQUISITION!
Lefty Jose Castillo was recently DFA'd by Arizona, and the lefty-starved Mets picked him up - cheaply, I'd guess. 8.2 MLB innings after 2018 tells you what you need to know. He is 6'6", 250, so maybe the Knicks could use him.
If he joins the lefty-desperate Mets today, who've lost Minter and Young for the season, it is likely Dedniel, who has options, gets sent down.

Happy FRIDAY
Guess they gave no confidence in Syracuse lefties
Waddell completely blocked as a future Mets starter
Castillo out of options
Was damaged good a long time ago
SMH on this one
I'm starting to believe in Reimer more as a future Mets first baseman
The FCL Mets have a couple of early BLUE.PROSPECT starters
One pitched last night
Same here on Castillo. Hate to see Nunez go down. He's shaking off the rust and getting back to being effective
Gose's curse is he is just too wild. He should have signed with a bad pitching organization - he'd be in the majors.
I too do not want to see Dedniel go down, if he in fact is...but I hated seeing Peterson and Megill be human yo-yo's for a few years even more. It is an options game - you have options? And you're a pitcher? You are a yo-yo.
Mack, was that Aracena? He's had 3 shaky outings, otherwise very good, and it is about learning to be consistent - and throwing 104.5 like Raimon helps.
Reimer reengineered his swing, and now trusts his healed hamstring. Could he surge to the Mets as early 2026 first baseman? Possibly, if he is not held back. A full season, and Arizona Fall, might induce the Mets to "go there". .217 Ryan Clifford, with his 43 Ks in 34 games, is not getting it done for me. They could jockey Baty and Vientos at 3rd and 1B to start out 2026, and promoted Reimer in May or June 2026. Pete is .245/.293/.434 in 13 May games. Still love Pete, but he will be 31 at the start of spring training next year. If they did move on from Pete, another perhaps temporary 1B alternative could be JT Schwartz. I believe he bulked up, recently got healthy and is hitting OK. Get him to AAA soon and dump a veteran. And then promote Reimer. I hope they do not wait until the All Star Break to do that.
Yes
Looking forward to seeing what the Mets' coaching staff can do with Castillo.
