NY Post: Mets strike out 14 times on way to being swept by Pirates. "On Sunday, manager Terry Collins fielded a skeleton lineup and watched it strike out an embarrassing 14 times, running the weekend total to 36, in a 9-1 loss at PNC Park that completed a three-game sweep for the Pirates...Jon Niese (L,3-5) tossed a third straight dud, allowing four earned runs on seven hits with four walks and six strikeouts over 4 ²/₃ innings. The lefty has a 9.00 ERA in his last three starts, all of which were losses."
The game was tied at 1 when the Bucs scored 3 in the 5th on a 2-run Andrew McCutchen homer and a Francisco Cervelli RBI single. Eric Goeddel gave up a 3-run homer to Starling Marte in the 6th to put the game out of reach at 7-1.

Noise finished his baseball career in 2019, pitching for his friend Wally Backman with the LI Ducks
Niese also pitched Winter Ball in 2019-20. He didn't allow a run in two games but then was hit hard in the LIDOM playoffs.
