TOM'S TIDBITS
So, the man named Crow that the Mets foolishly traded away to briefly and unsuccessfully rent Javier Baez is coming to town to face Soto and the Mets.
Crow is not just a superior CF.
He has stolen 12 of 14 so far.
What's more, he already has 21 extra base hits in 38 games.
And he has scored 29 runs and driven in 27.
What do you call that?
Superstar in the making for Pete, who turned 23 just before opening day.
But the Mets have their own superstar in Juan Soto, who has heated up greatly since April turned to May.
29 runs, 17 RBIs, 7 HRs, and just missed out on two more long balls in AZ.
Scary point:
The Cubs are 6 games over .500 despite playing 32 of their first 38 games against teams over .500. So, their 6 games over could easily have been 16 over .500 if they'd played a cream puff schedule so far.
Raining cats and dogs in Queens right now, but supposed to be playable for tonight's home opener.
Let's go!
FAT CHANCE YOU GUESSED THIS
A guy whose last name is Pfaadt has a MLB leading 6 wins. First name? Naturally, it is Brandon. Everyone was naming their kids Brandon back then.

Saw that Binghamton transferred OF Omar De Los Santos to the Development List. Second time this year, in his 6th season. Including spring training, Omar is 4 for 38 with 25 Ks. Seems he is not developing. Binghamton simultaneously activated 1B JT Schwartz from the IL, and he homered. He is 5 for 21 with 2 HRs this year. He needs to show what he can do quickly, and staying healthy is vital.
Two former Mets top 10 prospects at Binghamton (Parada, Ramirez) are 23 for 146 (.157) with just 10 walks and 51 Ks. Incredible. Baffling. These two are prime examples as to why you should strongly consider trading prospects at the right time.
With JT back, I would move Clifford back to one of the corner outfield positions to give him some reps there
I still think the PCA for Baez trade was the right move. Looked like a playoff maker at the time. Would do it 1000x times. Just didn't work out. Move on. Next.
Fences, PCA, and Muno, oh my...
Clifford had mentioned in my pre-season interview that he would be taking some OF reps "later in the year". This is a great time to do that. JT is an outstanding fielder at 1B, and he needs to prove again that he can hit.
We will always lament giving away PCA. But you have to take chances sometimes, and if Baez wasn't such a bad influence he may have paid off. There are other trades that we lamented at first, but later said, "oh, well..." like Jared Kelenic.
My brother brings up the Baez deal occasionally. His take? He was OK with it in 2022, IFthe Mets did not stop there but made other deals. But they stopped there.
I disagree on PCA trade. He could become-the next Amos Otis. Too high a price. Instead, they have aging Nimmo at $20 million per year for years to come, which, with taxes, is$40 million per. Pete is making a mere $771,000 this year.
Fences? Say what you want, but Lindor, Pete, and Nimmo have hit 15 points, 20 points, and 30 points, respectively, HIGHER on the road in their Mets’ careers than at CitiField.
Soto TBD, but he is slugging 67 points higher on the road this year in the season’s first quarter.
Move them in. Screw the pitchers.
I never liked the trade for Baez. Thought it was a dumb move.
Ex-Mets prospect Rhylan Thomas made his MLB debut with Seattle. A walk and a double in 9 plate appearances. As usual, he did not strike out yet. Wishing him well.
