MACK - Thoughts and Graphics - SP - Clay Holmes

Pitch Profiler                      @pitchprofiler

Clay Holmes was DEALING.

Six-pitch mix, turbo sinker, and that nasty sweeper leading the charge—he carved up the Cubs and looked every bit like a dude you hand the ball to with confidence. Stuff, command, presence.

He’s HIM.

"He made it look easy on a night where it wasn’t the best conditions for his pitch repertoire"

Clay Holmes' maturation as a Mets starter shone through in his gem against a high-powered Cubs offense on Friday night

Mack – This might be the best 13mil ever spent by this team. And… he’s under contract for two more seasons.

Holmes seemed in control throughout the game, but frankly, all he had to do was throw the sweeper on every pitch. Seriously, he mixed this perfectly with a no barrel fastball and a change that produced zippo barrels as well and a 33.3% whiff%.

Would easily qualify for SP1 if Senga wasn’t doing what he does well.

Good times.

Let's hope our guys stay healthy. Wonder who are odd men out when Montas and Manaea return.

Manaea will return to rotation

My CURRENT guess would be Peterson to long man

Montas has no chance. Pen piece for now

You must be kidding.

When Benge and Ewing get promoted to the Mets next month, we will have a complete team. Just kidding. I meant two months from now.

Holmes is another reason for short outings by starters. Senga missed a year, Holmes had low innings. Peterson started pitching in late May in 2024.

Last year at this time, I was bashing Adrian Houser, who now has a 6+ ERA in AAA. What a difference a year makes

Alcantara is 2-4, 8.42. The Marlins tried to trade him for Adrian Houser but were rebuffed (again, just kidding).
