Mike Puma NY Post: No-show offense can’t help pedestrian Syndergaard in Mets loss. "As the Mets lineup continued to exercise its Miranda rights — choosing to remain silent — Syndergaard, in his third major league start, gave the team six respectable innings in a 4-1 loss to the Pirates at PNC Park"

Syndergaard (1-2) was charged for four runs, only one of which was earned, on six hits over six innings.  He received no help from his defense in the second inning on a Gregory Polanco grounder off Lucas Duda’s glove leading to an error and two unearned runs (originally ruled a hit - later changed to an error). An errant pick off throw by Syndergaard in the 6th lead to another run.  Gerrit Cole K'd 10 allowing just one unearned run on a wild pitch that scored Juan Larages in the 3rd putting Kevin Plawecki on 3rd with 1 out and giving the Mets a chance to tie the game at 2.  Curtis Granderson then K'd and Eric Campbell flew out to end the threat.

The loss dropped the Mets to 1.5 games behind the Nationals as they beat the Phillies 2-1.
