In Jacksonville, but could easily be in Queens

Nolan McLean (NYM) made his AAA debut!

McLean fired off 7 scoreless innings with 7 K as he flexed his high-octane arsenal. McLean wields a wide array of pitches including one of the nastiest sweepers in MiLB. He is a rapidly rising pitching prospect.

Here is Nolan McLean's (NYM) arsenal reclassified

Some quick thoughts

- Deep pitch mix

- Sweeper as advertised

- The slider at 90 MPH is sweet

- Fastballs are decent at 95-96 MPH

This is one of the best pitching prospects in MLB!

Mack – This is big news.

We all have been trying to determine which starter would be the first to emerge from Syracuse this season. Would it be Tidwell, or Sproat. Well, McLean just put a wrench to that question.

This was, as close as it could have been, a perfect outing. There wasn’t one barrel. Think on that. Not one opponent batter put their bat properly on one damn pitch. Every hit was a single. The two hardest balls were groundouts. And the majority of balls thrown out of the zone were designed to do that. Near perfect.

So, who’s first now? Well, with the Mets current rotation already leading the league with the lowest ERA, and two original rotation pieces scheduled to come back in the next 30 days, I don’t see anyone hopping the shuttle from Syracuse to LaGuardia this season.

But boy… with Christian Scott returning next spring, and these three starters ready, the Mets seem to have finally be growing a proper rotation for years to come.

McLean is for real - I hope he can still touch 98 with the fastball.

I want to see him pitching in Queens - and pinch hitting on some rare occasions. Light tower power.

I don't believe he hit 98 last night but his control was a mazing... with a capital MAZING.

Love velo but I'll take control every day. Even night games.

I'd say that McLean has advanced to the top of the class. Sproat has to develop some movement on his fastball, too hittable in the majors. Needs time in the lab. Someone teach him the DeGrom rising fastball.

I must be missing something with Christian Scott Mack. I sure hope you are right. After his first game or two I thought he was very hittable.

Any guesstimate as to when McLean ascends to THE SHOW???

You are missing Scott. So did I when I wrote earlier

I have McLean ceiling ahead of Scott, but Christian ahead of all the other guppies

My ETA is opening day rotation 2026

Do not get down on Sproat because of his lackluster 2025 so far

The talent is there

Having close friend McLean on same team will help

Mack, can you tell me what you see in Scott because I felt he was very average. No better than what we have.

I liked his command of the game. To me, a more talented Mike Pelfrey. Nothing flashy. Could be future innings eater

Get him in the lab as soon at the Doc says go
