Mets have another top prospect heating up

The talk on Mets IF prospect Boston Baro for a few weeks now has been that the metrics were looking solid despite the results not looking good.

Yesterday Mets 22 yr old RHP prospect Cristofer Gomez was promoted from St. Lucie to Brooklyn.

One of my favorite/most frustrating Mets prospects in the system is current High A Brooklyn Cyclones RP Saul Garcia.  This season

As of 5-28 –

    2025/Brooklyn – 25-K (17-K/9 ratio), 5-SV (2nd in SAL)

Needs to lower walks by increasing control to zone

Considered a late bloomer

1st cousin of Wilmer Flores

Fastball – considered major league average

Low-80s slider, also considered league average

Changeup developing

Mets plan to stretch him out into a starter

Entire future, be it as a starter or in the pen, is determined by his future command

Vientos hits a HR in one AB and looks like he doesn’t belong in a major league uniform in the next

                 Mack –

If you swing hard on every pitch, and your body has the strength needed to send the ball over Tom’s fences, once in awhile you will actually square up on the ball. Works even if you close your eyes. Right now, Vientos is in his close your eyes stage.

Of course…What do I know? I’m just a blog writer.

Boston Baro is at .217. He is 20 years old. In Brooklyn. It is an adjustment.
