Rumor Mill- 11/19/2012

  • The New York Yankees continue to have preliminary talks to OF Scott Hairston. Hairston would bring a much needed right handed OF bat into a platoon situation with OF Raul Ibanez who is also in preliminary talks.

  • RP Ramon Ramirez has dropped the ACES Agency as his representation. According to Ken Rosenthal via Twitter,  The two sides split mutually after Ramirez "Wanted agency to do something it had never done regarding fees." Ken Rosenthal

  • Also according to Rosenthal, despite having a team policy of not including no-trade clauses within contract negotiations, the Miami Marlins made verbal promises to SS Jose Reyes and SP Mark Buehrle that neither would be traded.  Fox Sports

  • The story above doesn't seem to have affected OF Juan Pierre as he signed a 1 yr contract worth $1.6MM with the club for 2013. He will compete for playing time in LF according to Juan C. Rodriguez of The Sun Sentinel  JCRMarlinsbeat

  • MORE MARLINS NEWS!!! Olney also believes that the Marlins will trade OF Giancarlo Stanton within the next 20 months."It would be a shock.....He's not happy with the team and is unlikely to sign a long-term contract."  ESPN

  • The New York Mets and SP R.A. Dickey seem to be in agreement that 2 years will be the length of extension however the disconnect between them continues to be the dollars per year. According to ESPN's Buster Olney, the Dickey camp would like more than $10MM per year. ESPN

  • The Toronto Blue Jays are reported to be shopping all three of their catchers J.P. Arencibia, Travis D'Arnaud, and John Buck

The Yanks don't have to and seldom have. They play heavy spending ball and all the agents know to make their last phone call to Cashman, tell him what their highest offer is for their client, and sit back and let the Yanks up the offer..

Does it work?

Well, who's won the most World Series in the past 15 years?
